Chidozie Nwangwu, widely recognized as Akwa Okuko, a prominent traditional healer in Anambra State, has been charged with five offenses pertaining to ritualistic practices, conspiracy to commit robbery, and facilitating internet fraud, often referred to as Yahoo yahoo.
Nwangwu was arrested on Sunday, February 16, and the formal charges were presented at the Anambra State High Court on Tuesday, February 25, during a ruling issued by Justice Onochie M. Anyachebelu.
The case against him was initiated by the Anambra State government, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The five charges against him include:
- Engaging in money ritual practices.
- Maintaining business ties with drug dealers.
- Preparing charms for kidnappers and armed robbers within and outside the state.
- Assisting internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) in their criminal activities.
- Performing ritualistic charms for clients.
Furthermore, the government of Anambra State has pledged to seize the assets of Nwangwu, which encompass his hotel and vehicles.
The court has postponed the proceedings to a future date for additional hearings.
In other news, Deeone, a well-known Nigerian comedian, has ignited fresh debate by stating he possesses evidence that could harm social media commentator Verydarkman.
The tension between them grew after Deeone alleged on The Honest Bunch podcast that Verydarkman is gay.
His remarks triggered a strong argument between the activist and podcast host Nedu Wazobia.
After that, Deeone has been making the rounds in the media, asserting that he has evidence to back up his claims. In a recent video, he revealed part of this evidence by showing a black-and-white picture of a man with his mouth open.
Deeone said he won’t share the images online, but he plans to send them to the proper authorities.
“I just enter Abuja now. Lemme just burst your head small. Who be this way dey open mouth like say something dey inside…like say e dey collect something. Black and white dey; colored dey. If you have Evidence eh, don’t post it on social media; take it to the appropriate authorities and see if the law will not take its course. If I release half of the things I have, social media go scatter,” he said.
His statements have sparked a lot of reactions online, with social media users split on whether his supposed evidence is real or not.
