Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has broken his silence following new assault allegations.
According to reports, the controversial musician and his boy attacked government officials at his Odogwu bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Ogun State, causing them to leave for safety.
In the midst of the rising controversy, Portable has resorted to social media to ask for his supporters’ prayers.
According to reports, the brawl erupted when government officials arrived at Portable’s bar on official business.
The musician allegedly gathered his area boys to chase the officials away, forcing them to seek refuge at a nearby gas station.
Portable is alleged to have gone into hiding after the incident to avoid being arrested by police.
The charges have provoked significant outcry on social media.
Neither Portable nor the government have issued an official statement verifying or refuting the claims.
Portable’s much-anticipated UK tour, which was set for February 7 in London and February 8 in Glasgow, has been postponed indefinitely.
The abrupt cancellation came only hours after Portable had a public spat with his old mentor, Olamide.
In a note to his supporters, Portable said that he had to stay behind to defend his family and property.
While he did not specifically address the charges against him, his letter alluded to the personal issues he is currently facing.
In a recent social media message, the “Zazu” singer asked his supporters to keep him in their prayers.
Fans’ reactions have been mixed, with some expressing sorrow and giving their support, while others have ridiculed him for continuously getting into problems.
