Nigerian singer Portable, known for his controversial style, has hit the studio to record a track aimed at Afrobeats singer Asake after Asake lost at the 67th Grammy Awards.

On February 2, 2025, Tems took home the Best African Music Performance award, beating out Asake, Davido, Yemi Alade, and Burna Boy.

Portable took aim at Davido and Asake for letting a female artist outshine them and win the award. He believes he could easily win in that category.

In a recent video, he also made fun of Asake’s Grammy outfit, which featured a camouflage jacket and pants.

He teased Asake for his military-style outfit at the event, but he ended up not winning the award. Portable proclaimed himself the “top artist” and mentioned that he resembles American rapper Lil Wayne.

The diss song lyrics reads, “No be end of world. It is just a Grammy. My glory go kill my enemies. Grammy ti wa taja teran. Your papa no be army. O lo wosho army. You wan collect Grammy Your papa no be army. O lo wosho army. Ofe fi gba Grammy and your papa no be army. Better go join academy Mr Money. E mi mon reign E oni brain. Mofu jo Lil Wayne.”

This isn’t the first time Portable has had trouble with Asake. In January, he advised fans not to make comparisons after Asake revealed his new appearance, which included shorter hair and tattoos on his face.

The video triggered massive reactions as social media users shared their thoughts via the comment section.
