Shank Comics, a creator of content, has responded to recent rallies by people supposedly hired to disrupt planned nationwide protests in Nigeria.
On Monday, July 29, a series of videos and photographs were published on Twitter, capturing people in Lagos state protesting against the demonstration, which is scheduled to begin August 1.
They were seen carrying banners and placards, and it was reported that certain public figures had paid them to take to the streets.
In response to the development, a disappointed Shank Comic expressed his dismay, describing it as the modern-day weaponization of poverty.
The online comedian stated that the thought of individuals accepting money to protest against their own self-interest due to poverty is the reason politicians do not want the country to improve.
He wrote; “Nahh! This is fuxxed up. We are watching poverty being weaponized in modern age. That’s why they won’t let the country work. If it works, they lose their hold on us.”

@AjeboDanny commented; I’ve always said this, they’re intentionally keeping people poor because poor people don’t have the luxury of choice
@_coincoder; Apart from the poverty issue, Nigerians can be very shameless and shortsighted.
@Mittymartz; Shank just forget it Everything don spoil already There is no coming back from this It’s better we restart or divide the country
@AjeboMezie; It’s poor people being used as the tool to keep poor people poorer. Shameful
@unlimmitedGP; There’s no coming back from this, this is getting worse day by day. How will you be happy that you are been held inside the cage of poverty??
