Presidency congratulates Burna Boy, Davido, others on their Grammy nominations

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, responded by congratulating the Nigerian artistes.

The Presidency has congratulated Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr on their nominations for the 66th annual Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy received four nominations, while his rival, Davido, received three nominations in his debut.

Asake, the Afrobeats phenomenon, received one nomination, while renowned rapper Olamide and soprano Arya Starr each received one nomination.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, responded by congratulating the Nigerian artistes.

In a statement via Twitter (X) on Friday, Onanuga wrote; “Congratulations to Nigerian singers Davido, Burna Boy, Asake/Olamide, Ayra Starr for their nominations in the 66th Grammy Awards scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.”

GISTLOVER previously revealed that the Nigerian quintet, along with South African vocalist Tyla, were all nominated in the first Best African Music Performance category.

‘Amapiano’ by Asake and Olamide, ‘City Boys’ by Burna Boy, ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr, ‘Unavailable’ by Davido and Musa Keys, and ‘Water’ by Tyla were the nominees in the newly established category.

Other nominations for Burna Boy include ‘Sitting On Top of the World’ with 21 Sav@ge in the Best Melodic Rap category. His most recent record, ‘I Told Them,’ was nominated for Best Global Music record and ‘Alone,’ for Best Global Music Performance.

Davido’s other nominations are ‘Timeless’ for Best Global Music Album and ‘Feel’ for Best Global Music Performance.

The 66th Grammy will hold next year in Los Angeles, California, United States of America.
