In a countrywide broadcast on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu addressed the current #EndBadGovernance demonstrations, stressing his commitment to economic reform
He highlighted that removing fuel subsidies, while difficult, was important to solve the country’s economic stagnation.
Tinubu said that the subsidies have stifled Nigeria’s prosperity, enriching traffickers and neighboring nations at the expense of Nigerian citizens. He reassured residents that his government is committed to providing excellent governance and transparent leadership.
The President also addressed the demonstrators, emphasizing that law enforcement forces will safeguard innocent lives and property while upholding constitutional rights.
He stressed his vision for a flourishing Nigeria with democratic administration that provides peace, freedom, and meaningful employment for all.
Tinubu acknowledged the hurdles created by decades of economic mismanagement, but he is confident in his administration’s capacity to effect constructive change.
He restated his commitment to accountability and openness, telling Nigerians that he is entirely focused on providing good government.
