Presidential Tribunal: Court Reportedly Picks Date to Deliver Election Petition Judgement

According to reports, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) has set Saturday, September 16 as the date for the announcement of its ultimate decision regarding the results of the 2023 presidential election.

In the lawsuit contesting President Bola Tinubu’s election victory as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the elections of February 25, the tribunal is anticipated to issue its decision.

It should be remembered that the five-person tribunal presided over by Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani reserved judgment after adopting the final written addresses of the parties involved in the lawsuit and said the parties and their attorneys would be informed of the verdict’s delivery date.

On Monday, a number of sources asserted that the tribunal has chosen September 16 as the judgment date.

The tribunal’s deadline to rule on the three petitions filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the Labour Party (LP), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as each party’s presidential nominee, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Peter Obi, and Princess Chichi Ojei, is the reported date.

Tinubu, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are named as defendants in the cases.

However, according to Gistlover, the tribunal has not yet released an official statement regarding the time and date of its decision.
