Afrobeats artist Stanley Omah Didia, widely recognized as Omah Lay, has shared insights regarding the beneficial effects of his incarceration in Uganda on both his personal life and professional journey.

According to Gistlover, Omah Lay and Tems were apprehended, charged, and subsequently imprisoned in Uganda for participating in a concert at Speke Resort, Kampala, on December 12, 2020, in violation of COVID-19 social distancing protocols.

After spending three days in custody, they were released on bail. In a recent interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay remarked that his time in jail profoundly altered his understanding of freedom. He noted that following this experience, his appreciation for freedom intensified, a sentiment he now conveys through each of his musical compositions.

”After being in that cell for three days, I just love my freedom so much now that I fight for it with every record… I don’t want to give Uganda so much credit for locking me up, but that shifted my perspective about freedom,” the ‘Soso’ crooner said.
