Nigerian televangelist, Prophet TB Joshua has spoken out on the COVID-19 vaccine which has been generating much controversy in Nigeria and other countries of the world.
The popular Nigerian prophet in a series of tweets on his Twitter account on Wednesday explained that the COVID-19 vaccine has many conspiracy theories around it.
He however called for support for the government, noting that he beliefs the various governments across the world are doing their best to address the challenges posed by COVID-19.
Some countries have already started administering doses of the vaccine to their citizens while others like Nigeria are still expecting the first batch of the vaccines in their countries, Gistlover reports.
Joshua while bearing his mind on the covid-19 issue, said “Concerning the ongoing situation in the world, I have received thousands of emails on the COVID-19 vaccine.”
“No doubt, there are many conspiracy theories surrounding this vaccine. However, my belief is that our governments are only trying to look for a way out of this very challenging situation, although there may be bad faith in certain quarters,” he acknowledged.
“Many people have complained of some negative reactions but this is always the case with vaccines of this nature. I remember I used to have such reactions whenever I took chloroquine.”
“That does not mean chloroquine is bad. It works positively for many. At this time, our governments need our support and our cooperation – because the world is in a dilemma,” he concluded in his customary parabolic fashion.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari-led government on Tuesday noted that Nigeria has the capacity to store up to 400,000 doses of the expected COVID-19 vaccine.
The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, stated this during a tour of the National Strategic Cold Store in Abuja.
The Federal Government is expected to receive 100,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine by the end of January.
The Pfizer vaccines must be stored at the ultra-cold temperature of -70°C.
The NSCS houses three ultra-cold chain equipment.
According to Dr Shuain, the three ultra-cold chain equipment have a combined capacity of 2,100 litres and operate at a temperature of -85 degrees Celsius.
The Federal Government, however, has dismissed rumours that the expected COVID-19 vaccines in the country contain microchips and altar Human Genetic information.
