Proposed Military invasion in Niger Sparks Disagreement within ECOWAS Parliament

The Economic Community of West African States Parliament has been separated on how to respond to the coup in Niger.

While some ECOWAS MPs supported a military operation against the Niger junta, others opposed it.

On Saturday, twenty-two legislators attended a virtual extraordinary meeting that addressed the current state of politics in Niger Republic.

While some members of the parliament advocated for dialogue and diplomacy, others urged action to halt the rise of military rule in the region.
