Afrobeats sensation Davido recently shared a memorable story from his youth about meeting American rap icon 50 Cent, revealing how the rapper once declined to take a photo with him as a young fan.
Speaking on The Breakfast Club, Davido recalled being only 14 years old when his family visited Las Vegas to celebrate his older brother’s 21st birthday. While in the hotel lobby, he spotted the G-Unit crew, including his favorite rapper at the time, Lloyd Banks, who was kind enough to pose for a picture with him.
However, when Davido saw 50 Cent and asked for a photo, the rapper simply said, “No,” before walking away.
Years later, after Davido achieved international fame, he got the chance to reconnect with 50 Cent and humorously reminded him of their past encounter. “I told him the story, and he just laughed and said, ‘You’re here now, right?’” Davido shared.
Despite that early snub, the two artists have since built a solid professional rapport. In fact, 50 Cent even invited Davido on stage as a surprise guest during his Madison Square Garden performance in New York. The pair are also set to co-headline a highly anticipated concert in London later this year alongside legendary R&B artist Mary J. Blige.
