American rapper 50 Cent has decided to withdraw the defamation lawsuit he initiated against his former girlfriend, Daphne Joy.
The 49-year-old musician and actor submitted legal paperwork requesting that a judge dismiss his case, as reported by TMZ on Tuesday, September 10.
Initially, the lawsuit was filed in May after Joy, 37, accused him of “raping” and “physically abusing” her in the past.
These allegations were made in an Instagram post following 50 Cent’s derogatory remark, labeling her a “sex worker” in March, which was in response to a lawsuit against the rap mogul Diddy by an alleged sexual abuse victim amid a series of serious accusations against him in recent months.
The judge overseeing the case will need to approve the request to dismiss 50 Cent’s lawsuit, but it is highly likely that it will be granted.
The rapper, known for his hit “In Da Club,” shares a son named Sire, aged 12, with Joy. He filed the lawsuit against her in May after she made the startling allegations in a detailed post, which also included claims about his role as an absent father.
