Big Sean, an American rapper, has addressed why he has not married singer Jhené Aiko after eight years of dating.
Sean revealed to Charlamagne tha God on the ‘Out of Context’ podcast last Friday that he is still not ready to marry his longtime girlfriend because “there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”
He said, “It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any person who have dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs…
“And I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all. To me, marriage symbolizes, like, the best relationship. I would like to, and I don’t like putting our personal business out there like that either, but there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.”
Sean and Aiko have been dating on and off since 2016. When their relationship started, Aiko was married to producer Dot da Genius. She filed for divorce in August 2016, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause for their separation.
Sean and Aiko gave birth to their son, Noah, in November 2022. Aiko is also the mother of Namiko, a 15-year-old daughter she has with singer O’Ryan.
Sean has already proposed to his ex-girlfriend, Naya Rivera, in October 2013. However, the rapper and Naya, who died in 2020, ended their engagement six months later.
