Rema criticized for supposedly copying Indian song in his latest song, ‘Azaman’

  • Afrobeats artist Rema has caught attention on X (formerly Twitter) after a user claimed he sampled an Indian song in his new hit ‘Azaman’.
    • The controversy started when the user shared a video comparing Rema’s song to the Indian song “Chudaka Chudaka,” showing how they are alike.

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Rema, whose real name is Divine Ikubor, has caught attention on X (formerly Twitter) after a user claimed he sampled an Indian song in his new hit ‘Azaman’.

The controversy started when the user shared a video comparing Rema’s song to the Indian song “Chudaka Chudaka,” showing how they are alike.

Rema’s “Azaman,” from his second studio album HEIS, has achieved great success, but claims of sampling have sparked debates online.

The user pointed out that the melody of “Azaman” sounds a lot like an Indian song. This comparison gained more attention with a video on Instagram that played both songs side by side.
