Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has called out individuals who showcase their wealth at school reunion events, accusing them of being insensitive to the struggles of others.
Taking to his Twitter page, Omokri questioned the intentions of those who arrive at reunions in luxury vehicles like Bentleys or wear high-end accessories such as Rolex watches. According to him, such displays are unnecessary and could negatively affect others.
He described the act as “cruel,” warning that flaunting wealth in such settings could trigger feelings of inadequacy, depression, or even suicidal thoughts among former classmates who may not have achieved the same level of success.
Omokri urged people to show empathy and be mindful of others’ realities, emphasizing that reunions should be about reconnecting, not showing off.
He wrote;
“We know you are successful. But don’t go to your school’s reunion party with your Rolex and Bentley. It is just cruel! How do you expect your classmates who have not made it to feel?”
“Many of you have caused depression and even suicides by going to an occasion that is meant to bring back good memories only to create sad remembrances for your classmates.”
“Just show up and don’t show off. You don’t help, and you still want to oppress. What type of wickedness is that? You all started with nothing together. And nothing will follow you when you leave this world as we all must!”
