On Wednesday President Muhammadu Buhari-led government was charged by the House of Representatives to return the £4.2million Ibori loot to Delta State.
The statement made by the law makers on Wednesday noted that the funds were looted from Delta State and should be rightly returned to the state.
They went further to state that funds are needed for the infrastructural development of the state.
The decision was reached after a motion of urgent public importance which was sponsored by all the lawmakers from Delta State.
The lawmakers representing Delta State, however, stated that the total money is £6.2 million and not £4.2 million as is being reported.
The House also asked the Federal Ministry of Finance to direct the Attorney General of Federation, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and give the House all particulars relating to the recovered money.
Recall that the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of Federation, Abubakar Malami, while speaking on the development said President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that the loots be used for the completion of the second Niger Bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and the Abuja to Kano expressway.
In a similar development, former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has asked students in Delta State to demand the £4.2m looted assets by a former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori.
