The flood incident which has been witnessed in some states across Nigeria, left residents of some Delta communities, swimming to their houses.
The flood reportedly rendered 5,000 people homeless, and also destroyed hectares of farmlands and properties worth millions of Naira. Affected Delta Communities include: Akemu and Asarueha camps, Odabor all in Ikpide-Irri riverine community; Uzere, Ivrogbo-Irri, Araya, Emede, Umeh, among other communities in Isoko South local government area.
Residents of the communities who have passionately appealed to corporate bodies, spirited individuals and all relevant authorities to send relief materials to them, were spotted in photos gaining access to their homes either by swimming or by boats.
On the other hand, an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Emede and Ozoro, Isoko South and Isoko North local government areas of the state, have been opened by the State Government to cater for displaced persons.
