- Ruger has formed his own record company, ‘Blown Boy Entertainment’, and changed social media names to suit the new label.
Nigerian dancehall sensation Michael Adebayo Olayinka, well known as Ruger, has severed relations with Jonzing World, a label controlled by D’Prince.
On Sunday, the ‘Asiwaju’ hitmaker introduced his own record company, ‘Blown Boy Entertainment’.
He also changed the names on his social media profiles to suit the new label.
Speaking through a voice recording, Ruger expressed gratitude to those who have supported him since the beginning of his career while also requesting their support.
The 24-year-old singer also stated that he will soon disclose his next project for the year through the new channel. Ruger stated:
“Hello, everyone, it is Ruger out here. I want to be closer to my fans. People that have been supporting me since the beginning of my career up till this moment. I love you guys so much. I feel like there is a lot you do not know about me. There is a part of my life that you do not know. How fun I am to be with, to vibe with. And I want you guys to know that part. I want to share that part with you.”
“As you have seen now, I just started my own label. I need all the support. I need all the love, up close and personal. I love you guys so much. I am going to be sharing some snippets with you guys-my plans for the year. And you know you guys are going to get firsthand everything I am going to do this year. I love you guys so much.”
In 2021, Ruger rose to stardom under Jonzing World, a label owned by Nigerian singer D’Prince, which is an affiliate of Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records
Ruger has also swept up some of the maior awards, including the Best New act in Africa at the 2022 prestigious Afrima awards.
