Netizens on the microblogging platform Twitter have dragged veteran actor Omotola Jalade-Ekinde over her comment on the Lekki Massacre, which occurred on 20th October 2020.
In the wake of the incident in 2020, Omotola, in a post shared on her page, urged that victims’ families should speak up, and if there were no death recorded, people should stop the sensationalisation of the Lekki shooting.
Omotola, who seemed to be doubting the Lekki massacre, questioned why peaceful protesters would be shot at and who perpetrated the act.
The post reads: If people died during the Lekki Toll Assualt, let their people speak out please, and if there were no death, then enough with the sensationalisation because it does not remove from the crime that happened. Peaceful protesters were, why? by who?
However, after the Lagos State of Inquiry confirmed the Lekki Massacre happened with the list of people killed and missing after the shooting, Nigerians dragged Omotola for attempting to sponsor falsehood about the incident.
Many people expressed disappointment with the actress stating the Federal Government would use her to doubt and cover up the sad incident.
