Unknown persons stormed Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday night and burnt yam tubers stored for sale.
A Benue Government official posted the photos today, and wrote:
“Seeing pictures of these yam tubbers allegedly destroyed in Ukum has spoilt my day.
Some neighbours are very wicked.
I sympathize with the people of Ukum and pray for restoration.
But if this evil persists, Tiv youths may be forced to form “Yamstock Guards” so as to protect our heritage.
It will never be well with the inhuman perpetrators of these heinous crime.
