Sarkodie Calls Out Burna Boy

Sarkodie has clarified that he was actually the first African act to fill the Apollo Theatre to its capacity and not Burna Boy as the erroneous narrative which is even found on esteemed websites stipulates.

Africa’s most decorated rapper mentioned that Ghanaians have chalked great milestones in the music circles before their counterparts from Nigeria replicated it but the Nigerians always take the credit because of our lackadaisical approach to pertinent issues like this.

Sarkodie revealed this during an interaction with ace Ghanaian DJ and radio personality Andy Dosty on Hitz FM on August 3.

The Apollo Theater is a music hall located at 253 West 125th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard (Seventh Avenue) and Frederick Douglass Boulevard (Eighth Avenue) in Harlem, Manhattan, New York City.

It is a noted venue for African-American performers, and is the home of Showtime at the Apollo, a nationally syndicated television variety show which showcased new talent, from 1987 to 2008, encompassing 1,093 episodes; the show was rebooted in 2018 (Wikipedia).

Meanwhile, Sarkodie has boldly claimed his legions of fans, collectively called Sark Nation (Sark Natives) is the biggest fanbase in Ghana.

Africa’s most decorated rapper made this intriguing comment which has since sparked wild debate amongst fans in a new Twitter update. We guess the timing of his statement which coincides with the release of his new album No Pressure was designed to tilt attention to his new project.

Of course, he has a strong fanbase that resonates with his brand as the most iconic rapper in Africa but saying authoritatively that Sark Nation beats them all when Shatta Movement and Bhim Nation equally have the same proportion has intensified the debate.
