Three nurses at a hospital in Saudi Arabia have have been fired after filming themselves squashing a newborn baby’s face and laughing.
The video shows a nurse from a children’s hospital in Taif cruelly grabbing the infants forehead and neck and forcing his face to unnaturally contort.
Her colleagues can be heard laughing as she continues to squash the child’s face.
The baby was reportedly in the hospital for 10 days to treat a urinary tract infection when the footage was taken and posted online.
All three of the nurses were tracked down and immediately suspended and had their medical licenses revoked.
Abdulhadi Al-Rabie, Taif Health Affairs spokesman said:
‘The Health Affairs investigated the source of the video and was able to identify the nurses who appeared in the video and the hospital where the incident took place.
‘The nurses were immediately suspended by the order of Director of Taif Health Affairs Saleh Al-Muanis.’
He added that the nurses would be facing ‘severe penalties’ if they were found guilty of the abuse documented in the video, reports the Saudi Gazette.
