Seaking’s Lawyer Threatens To File Lawsuit Against Pastor Adeboye Over Arrest

  • Inibehe Effiong, the lawyer for SeaKing, has threatened to file a lawsuit against Pastor Enoch Adeboye after his client’s arrest.
  • This warning came just hours after the Redeemed Christian Church of God publicly supported the arrest of SeaKing.
  • The issue started in December 2024 when SeaKing shared a TikTok video that criticized Pastor Adeboye’s call for Nigerians to do a 100-day fast.

Inibehe Effiong, the lawyer for popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as SeaKing, has threatened to file a lawsuit against Pastor Enoch Adeboye after his client’s arrest.

This warning came just hours after the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) publicly supported the arrest of SeaKing for allegedly making disrespectful comments about the pastor.

The issue started in December 2024 when SeaKing shared a TikTok video that criticized Pastor Adeboye’s call for Nigerians to do a 100-day fast, labeling the advice as “stupid.”

This angered many, and the Concerned Christian Youth Forum, a group of young Christians, filed a complaint with the Lagos State Police, resulting in SeaKing’s arrest.

The incident triggered significant outrage on social media, with many viewing it as an attack on free speech.

At a recent Holy Ghost Congress service, Pastor Adeboye clarified that he had no connection to the arrest and was unaware of the petition or those who initiated it.

Despite what Adeboye said, RCCG’s Public Relations Department confirmed its support for SeaKing’s arrest in a statement on Monday.

The statement mentioned that the petition was filed for the “Fathers of Faith, including Pastor Enoch Adeboye.”

In his response, Effiong denounced the church’s viewpoint and cautioned that if the statement wasn’t retracted in 24 hours, Pastor Adeboye would face a lawsuit to uphold his client’s fundamental rights.

“Since Pastor Enoch Adeboye had initially distanced himself from the matter, we had decided not to join him and the church as respondents in any fundamental rights enforcement suit. We do not know what motivated the church’s sudden shift, as evidenced by the eccentric statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of RCCG.

“It is pertinent to state that the fundamental rights of Olumide Ogunsanwo have already been violated, as he was detained beyond the constitutionally permissible timeline and without any legally tenable grounds. Since RCCG has now chosen to align itself with the petitioner and drag Pastor Enoch Adeboye into the pit of illegality created by the police and the complainant, they must understand the legal consequences.

“We are now left with no choice but to include Pastor Adeboye as a party in any legal action we file to enforce SeaKing’s fundamental rights. This development may also require Pastor Adeboye to personally testify in court in any criminal case brought by the police, where he will be subjected to cross-examination, Effiong stated.
