Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, currently in police custody, has been handcuffed and taken to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, in Panti for further investigation and possible detention.
This was disclosed in a video shared by Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, via his verified Twitter handle on Monday.
Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, had ordered Kuti’s arrest following his altercation with a police officer on the 3rd Mainland Bridge last week.
He was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.
However, Sowore said Kuti had fulfilled his promise to cooperate fully with police investigations by visiting the Commissioner of Police in Lagos with his lawyers.
He wrote, “After visiting the @PoliceNG Commissioner in Lagos earlier today, @realseunkuti was arrested, handcuffed and taken to SCIID in Panti by @PoliceNG officers apparently for further investigations and possible detention over his altercation with a police officer on the 3rd mainland bridge. @RealSeunKuti fulfilled his promise to cooperate fully with police investigations and accordingly visited the Commissioner in Lagos with his lawyers.”
