A new update has come out regarding the heartbreaking loss of Nigerian singer Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie’s sister, Chioma, and her husband, George O Buchi, who sadly passed away this week.
Gistlover previously reported on their tragic deaths, which left many Nigerians in shock. Instagram blogger Cutie Juls shared the news, explaining that a gas explosion occurred at their home.
In a recent development, film producer and media personality Seun Oloketuyi provided details from Chioma’s close friend, Uchechi. She recounted that on that fateful day, Chioma and George were upstairs enjoying a quiet afternoon with their three-year-old son, completely unaware of the danger lurking nearby. George suddenly caught a whiff of a strange burning smell and decided to investigate, with Chioma following him while their baby slept peacefully upstairs.
As they neared the door to find out what was causing the unsettling odor, disaster struck—a massive explosion rocked their home, leaving George with severe burns and putting him in a coma. Chioma also sustained injuries but showed remarkable strength, managing to call friends and her father for assistance before neighbors rushed them to the hospital.
Uchechi mentioned that even with her injuries, Chioma was able to stay alert enough to take calls, offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of chaos. Unfortunately, that hope faded when she passed away from her injuries on August 30 at around 7:38 PM, leaving her family and friends heartbroken.
The situation became even more complicated with claims about the cause of the explosion being quickly dismissed. According to Seun Oloketuyi’s investigation, the couple’s inverter battery and gas cylinder were not responsible, and the generator was located far from the main house.
