This situation arose following the leak of a WhatsApp conversation by media activist Verydarkman (VDM), purportedly between Bobrisky and a friend.

In the leaked audio, Bobrisky allegedly disclosed that he had bribed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with N15 million to dismiss a money laundering charge against him. He claimed to have evaded a prison sentence by residing in a private apartment instead, and mentioned that Falz had reached out to him to facilitate a pardon through his father, Femi Falana.

According to the audio, Bobrisky stated that Falz indicated his father could assist in obtaining a Federal pardon directly from the president, which would resolve his legal issues and expedite his release from incarceration. Bobrisky further alleged that a payment of N10 million was requested to expedite the processing of the necessary documents for the president’s approval.
