Jennifer Lopez made her first significant public appearance since initiating divorce proceedings from Ben Affleck, participating in a prerecorded segment during the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday.
The 55-year-old actress and singer shared her childhood memories of watching the award show, which fueled her journey to becoming an international superstar.
‘It’s pretty incredible, right?’ the perennial A-lister remarked. ‘Fifty years of the American Music Awards. I remember watching them at home when I was a little girl.’
The artist known for “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” reflected on her debut at the American Music Awards in 2001, stating, “It feels like ages ago, but the atmosphere in the room was incredibly vibrant.”
Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20, coinciding with their two-year wedding anniversary following their extravagant ceremony in Georgia in 2022.
During the segment, the “On the Floor” vocalist wore a pink blouse and reminisced about her 2011 win in the Favorite Latin Artist category, describing it as “a truly humbling experience.”
