Afrobeats artist Divine Ikubor, widely recognized as Rema, has made his way back to his hometown of Benin, Edo State, in anticipation of his highly anticipated homecoming concert.
On Tuesday, Rema’s record label, Mavin Records, shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing the artist’s arrival.
The accompanying post featured an enthusiastic message: “Benin, your illustrious son; The Prince of Afrobeats – Rema is Home!”
Rema initially rose to fame with a viral freestyle on Instagram in 2018, performing D’Prince’s song “Gucci Gang,” and officially embarked on his music career in 2019 with the release of his debut single, “Dumebi.” Since then, he has established himself as a leading figure in the Afrobeats genre, captivating audiences both locally and globally.
The much-anticipated concert is scheduled for August 30 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
This event was first announced by the “Ozeba” artist in July, sparking significant excitement among fans.
This homecoming concert follows a previous effort by Governor Godwin Obaseki to host Rema in December 2023, which was postponed due to health issues.
