Renowned singer Sola Allyson, best known for her hit song Eji Owuro, has addressed recent backlash from Christian social media users on X (formerly Twitter).
The controversy began after veteran Nigerian gospel artist Dr. Panam Percy Paul shared that he had once rejected a massive N7 billion (£24 million) record deal in 1995. The deal required him to minimize references to Jesus in his songs, replacing them with alternative phrases like “Righteous One” or “Greatest Lover.”
Paul’s revelation sparked discussions online, with some users drawing comparisons to other gospel singers. Many specifically called out Sola Allyson, claiming she does not explicitly mention Jesus in her songs. A user named Folahayo even shared a screenshot of Allyson’s albums, asserting that none of her tracks include direct references to Jesus.
In response, Allyson has now broken her silence on the matter, addressing the criticisms leveled against her.
“Here is your 2019 album, IRI. 8 tracks and a runtime of 48 minutes. Throughout the entire album, the name ‘Jesus’ is not mentioned once. (correct me if I’m mistaken). Not even in Track 8 where you talked about who you “Gbekele, The personal attack is really below you, though, ” the netizen said.

The singer urged people to respect her beliefs in her response.
She emphasized that she will not let anyone intimidate or pressure her into accepting things that don’t align with her values.
Sola Allyson shared that she has faced criticism for her music style for more than 20 years.
