The law firm for Speed Darlington issued a statement regarding the singer’s arrest on Wednesday, November 27, shortly after he returned from the US, where he had spent the previous weeks.

Speed Darlington was first taken into custody in Lagos and then transported to Abuja by the Nigerian police after a report from his fellow artist Burna Boy. He was later granted bail due to health concerns.

Stan Alieke from Law Capitol, representing Darlington Achakpo, known as Speed Darlington, explained the reasons for his re-arrest in a signed statement shared on the law firm’s social media.

He mentioned that the police arrested his client for violating bail conditions.

Stan Alieke from Law Capitol provided an official statement regarding his client’s rearrest.

See post below:

“Following our client’s performance in Owerri, our client was picked up by the police on allegations that he jumped bail. We are informed that this action was purportedly on the orders of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau.”

Alieke further explained that:

“In good faith, our client had arranged to return to Abuja after his performance in Owerri in consultation with his lawyer and in liason with police officers. It was never his intention to jump bail.”

Burna Boy reported Akpi to the police for slandering him in the song ‘Baby Oil’. After being held for five days, he was granted administrative bail on October 8.

GistLover previously mentioned that shortly after the singer was released, his lawyer, Stan Alieke from Law Capitol, issued a statement detailing the actions his client had taken regarding the situation with Burna Boy.

Akpi’s lawyer stated that the rapper is seen by many as someone who brings joy. The videos he created were meant to be funny and not to harm anyone’s reputation.

The lawyer also mentioned Akpi’s deep love for his mother and clarified that he never intended to offend Burna Boy’s mother. His comments were taken out of context and were just a mistake.
