Submission is a gift a wife gives her husband and not a right — Gifty Power

Reality TV star, Gifty Powers has shared her thoughts about submission in marriage.

The US-based reality show star is sharing the post centered on submission in marriage, 5 years after she revealed that she got married at the age of of 19.

Writing on her Instastory, Gifty Powers who is now married to an American man, stressed that submission is a gift a wife gives her husband.

She also added that submission in marriage should not be viewed as the right of a husband.*

Recall that in an interview with Hip TV in 2017, Gifty had disclosed that she got married at 19 but that the union was not legally bound. She also described it as a dark part of her life.

She said at the time

“I will say it right now in here that the marriage issue was kinda real. I was once married and it’s a dark part of my life that I don’t want to ever go back.

“First of all, my advice to every young woman out there is that before you go into marriage, you have to be physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically matured because I was naive.

“I was 19, I didn’t know what the whole marriage thing was all about. It felt like entering into adulthood.

“The marriage was just traditionally recognised. We didn’t do court wedding, it was not legal. Although we did a white wedding, the bride price was returned. What I experienced, I don’t wish anyone to experience. I passed through a lot. People out there judge me because they don’t even know what I’ve been through.”
