Subsidy removal: Lagos LGA rolls out 14 mini-buses to ease hardship

In order to alleviate hardship, the Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has introduced 14 minibuses.

The LGA Chairman, Mr. Segun Odunmbaku, made this announcement on Saturday to commemorate his two years in office, according to NAN.

The release of the minibuses, according to him, was one of his administration’s palliative measures to lessen the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies on the residents of Ojodu and the surrounding area.

We had to have a vision and categorize our needs into these four acronyms because of the level of infrastructure deficit we encountered.

According to Gistlover, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had urged states to implement palliatives to lessen the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies nationwide.

Customs CG meets Katsina gov to ensure border closure compliance

In order to ensure strict adherence to the Jibia Border closure directive, the acting Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, met with the state governor, Dikko Radda, on Friday in Katsina.

The service’s national public relations officer, Abdullahi Miawada, made this announcement in a statement on Saturday.

Recall that the Nigerian government shut down the Jibia border after the recent overthrow of a democratically elected government in the Niger Republic.

In the statement, Adeniyi stated that another goal of the visit was to enlist the assistance of border communities.

The governor was informed by the CGC that the President’s decision had not been carried out in order to target Nigerians’ businesses.

He emphasized that the barrier is a stopgap measure.

The exercise did not only affect the Jibia border, Adeniyi also told the governor.

In the Economic Community of West African States, “it is a shared decision that affected many borders,” he continued.

The service would put effort into making community members aware of the reasoning behind the choice he claimed

Deputy Farouk Lawal who represented the governor responded by welcoming the CGC and assuring him of his unwavering support.

I want to congratulate you on your appointment and wish you a fruitful tenure. “Mr. Farouk remarked.

In order to assess the degree of order compliance, Adeniyi also went to the service’s Katsina-Jibia outstation.

He spoke with stakeholders and people living near the border.

The CGC gave the outstation’s officers instructions to inform the locals about the justification for closing the borders.

The President is committed to upholding democracy and promoting harmony in this nation, so he takes this issue seriously. President Tinubu’s decision to act was therefore motivated by the current events in Niger.

He said, “So, we are here to evaluate the degree of compliance of the directive as well as to assess the activities of the officers and men of the service in the axis.

In a climate of uncertainty, he emphasized, Nigerians cannot experience meaningful economic development.

However, stakeholders who spoke during the meeting told the CGC they will respect and abide by the directive.
