Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has expressed frustration over the poor treatment the Nigerian national team endured at Al Abaq Airport in Libya ahead of their AFCON 2025 qualifier second-leg match. The team’s plane was unexpectedly redirected mid-flight to the remote airport, located about a three-hour drive from Benghazi. The players have been stranded at the airport for over 10 hours without basic amenities.
Boniface, currently playing for Bayer Leverkusen, took to social media to voice his displeasure, highlighting the lack of food, Wi-Fi, or proper sleeping arrangements. He called on CAF to address the situation, stating, “Been at the airport for almost 13 hours, no food, no Wi-Fi, nowhere to sleep. Africa, we can do better @CAF.”
