Supreme Court Begins Hearing Atiku, Peter Obi’s Appeal against Tinubu’s Victory

The stage is now set for the Supreme Court to consider the appeals against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory on February 25, 2023, and the Presidential Election Petition Court’s (PEPC) ruling on the results.

According to Naija News, Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was proclaimed the victor of the fiercely contested race by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Presidential Election Petition Court also upheld his win.

But in other Supreme Court challenges, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) are contesting Tinubu’s victory.

The three petitioners seek for the Supreme Court to declare

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced that the appeals would be heard on Monday, October 23, 2023. All routes currently lead to the Supreme Court Complex in Abuja, where the hearing is being place.

Reports that some Supreme Court justices pulled out of the panel that was supposed to hear appeals against President Bola Tinubu’s election victory on February 25, 2023 have been refuted by the court.

Hoever, some platforms (not Naija News) stated prior to the court session that five of the seven justices on the panel had withdrawn and refused to serve because of a purported crisis in the highest court.

Reacting, however, the Supreme Court’s Director, Press and information, Dr. Festus Akande said there is no truth in such reports as all members of the panel are intact and ready to hear the petition on Monday (today).
