Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, has reached a significant milestone in her career. Her first album, “Born In The Wild,” has been listed among Billboard’s top R&B albums of 2024.
This achievement confirms Tems’ status as one of the leading African artists in the world.
Remarkably, she is the only African artist included in this esteemed list, which also highlights albums from famous musicians like Chris Brown, Party Next Door, Muni Long, and Bryson Tiller.
Billboard celebrates Tems’ music, stating it blends many different styles that can’t be limited to Afrobeats.
Her tracks have gained popularity far outside Africa, bringing her millions of fans and important awards.
Tems’ debut album, titled “Born In The Wild,” has received both commercial and critical acclaim. It reached No. 5 on the Top R&B Albums chart and made its way onto the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 56.
Furthermore, the album has led to two Grammy nominations for Tems in 2025 for Best Global Music Album and Best African Music Performance.
