American rapper Curtis James Jackson III, known as 50 Cent, has recently shared his favorite song at this time.
In a viral interview clip released on Tuesday, the hip-hop icon revealed that his current favorite track is “Me & U,” performed by the Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Temilade Openiyi, widely recognized as Tems.
“My current song on repeat is ‘Me & U’ by Tems,” he said.
This track serves as the lead single from Tems’ highly praised debut studio album, “Born In The Wild.”
The song has generated controversy after winning the Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 BET Awards, with critics arguing that a secular artist’s song should not have triumphed over those of gospel legends such as Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music.
In other news, The contentious Nigerian artist, Habeeb Okikiola, widely recognized as Portable, has disclosed that the renowned rapper and YBNL founder, Olamide, serves as his mentor within the music industry.
He made this revelation during a recent interview with Echo Room. Portable noted that Olamide faced criticism for his collaboration on the remix of Portable’s breakout track ‘Zazu’ in 2021.
However, Portable has since achieved international recognition through a collaboration with British rapper Skepta.
“Olamide is my Godfather. He brought me to the industry. One day, I messaged him and asked if he had issues with me because he stopped posting me.
“When Olamide helped me, people said he made a mistake. Look at me now, I have gone international and Skepta featured me. I’m touring the world,” he said.
