AbokiFX, a foreign exchange information website, has responded to the suspension and arrest of Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
After President Bola Tinubu ordered his suspension, the Department of State Services arrested him on Friday, June 9th.
AbokiFX mocked Emefiele when its owner, Oniwinde Adedotun, was proclaimed sought two years ago for allegedly manipulating the Nigerian currency market with the platform and engaging in illicit foreign exchange operations.
“The only exchange rate remains the I&E window, which is the market we expect everybody who wishes to procure or sell forex to get it. We have been studying the activities of abokiFX in the last two years.
“There was a time we asked our colleagues to call the abokiFX to ask how he conducts the rates. He is a Nigerian, living in England, we will track him. Mr Oniwinde, we will track you. We cannot allow you to continue to kill our economy,” the ex-CBN Governor had said.
DSS confirmed on Saturday that the suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was in its custody and AbokiFX took to its Twitter account to quote a bible verse implying that God fought its battle.
The foreign exchange platform shared a video of Emefiele issuing a warning to AbokiFX.
It captioned; “The Lord will fight for me you; you will hold your peace”.
