The movie star recently held Lagos agog as she premiered her latest movie, ‘Battle On Buka Street’, a film according to the producer is meant to preach unity, oneness and love for the Nigerian culture.
In what she calls her farewell project as an actress as she crosses into politics, The Deputy governor of Lagos State aspirant plays Yejide, a food seller on Buka street, a food-selling hub in Otanwa community. She goes at loggerheads with her sister Awele (Mercy Johnson), who has set up a shop opposite her.

During her interview, Funke Akindele was asked: “In this your new movie, Battle on Buka Street, is there any particular scene that gave you serious tough time to film?”
Funke responded:
“Okay, I want my fans to note this scene. Ha, the fight scene between Mercy [Johnson Okojie] and I, that scene I shot it on the saddest day of my life. I was emotionally down. I cried finish.
I cried cried cried, prayed, knelt down, cried, cried, cried. They now called me to come and shoot. Ha! My sister, I breathed in and out. I now told myself “don’t give up Funke!”
Troubled times will come, but it will go. It will pass. Change na the only thing wey constant. This time will change, that is how I put myself together. [They shouted] “Action!”, that is how I did it.
Once they cut, that’s how I started crying again. I will go to one corner, clean my eye, “Action” again, I pick up. Till I finished the film. So my fans, I want you to note that scene. That scene I filmed it on the saddest day of my life.”
