American rapper J. Cole has shared the reason for retracting his diss track aimed at Kendrick Lamar.
According to GistLover, J. Cole had responded to Lamar in ‘7 Minute Drill,’ saying “he fell off like the Simpsons” after Lamar dissed him and Drake on the song ‘Like That’ by Future and Metro Boomin.
Interestingly, during his set at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina in April, J. Cole took a moment to apologize to Lamar.
Cole explained that his latest single, ‘Port Antonio’, was influenced by those who wanted to stir up drama for attention and profit.
He mentioned that if he had engaged in the conflict, it would have led to bad feelings between him and Lamar.
He raps: “I pulled the plug because I saw where that was about to go, they wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make their pockets grow.
“They see the fire in my pen and think I’m dogging smoke. I wouldn’t have lost the battle, dog, I would’ve lost a bro, I would’ve gained a foe, and all for what?”
