The recent viral video depicting a police officer opening a car door for Nigerian singer Spyro has drawn harsh criticism from the PPRO of the Nigerian Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Mr. Adejobi criticized the officer’s conduct as being ludicrous and unprofessional, and he vowed to move quickly to find and fix the problem.
The image of a police officer in uniform offering the service of opening a car door for Spyro, reportedly at a public event, quickly acquired popularity on social media networks.
Although such an act can at first seem innocent, the PPRO stressed that it goes against accepted practice and is not representative of the professional standards of the Nigerian Police Force.
In response to the video, Mr. Adejobi wrote;
“This is indeed unprofessional and ridiculous. The video will be sent to relevant offices and units to fish him out. We will stop some deployments or attachments asap. U can imagine him (guess an inspector of police), moving with and opening the door for him.
Every man in life must have dignity and high esteem. Not only the policeman, but many people lose their dignity for unnecessary gains, projections, assumptions, and undue affluence just to gain something. Na wa oo”
