Tems and Wizkid are not included in the list of African singers who have received Grammys, which causes a stir online.
Social media erupted in confusion when Afrobeats Superstars Wizkid and Tems were left off the list of African Singers who had won Grammy Awards
A list of African performers who have won golden records since the 1960s was recently released by the organisers in the run-up to the 66th Grammy Awards, which take place on February 4.
The rundown stated that the late South African singer Miriam Makeba was the first African Grammy winner.
Pop icon Sade followed suit, becoming the first Nigerian to take home the coveted accolade on a global scale; Burna Boy, on the other hand, was the last and most recent Nigerian to do so.
However, the list’s conspicuous exclusion of Tems and Wizkid, two prominent figures in Nigerian music, has caused an ongoing firestorm of debate on social media sites.
Many took advantage of the occasion to make fun of the gifted vocalists.
