Blackout: DisCos apologize to customers over Power Outage

Suspected vandals have attacked the Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo 132KV Transmission Line 1 on the Abuja axis, according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

TCN made this information public on Monday by stating in a press release that the transmission line had been “vandalized between Tower 23 and Tower 25.”

The line was reportedly vadalized on Sunday morning at around one in the morning, “when bulk power supply on the line was cut off, necessitating an early morning investigation by TCN linesmen,” according to the statement.

A vandalized section of the line route between Tower 23 and Tower 25 was discovered during investigations, according to a statement made public by TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.

Mbah continued, saying that the thieves had also taken conductors, which resulted in a power outage at Kukwaba Transmission Substation.

However, he disclosed that while plans were being made to fix the damaged line, the TCN had temporarily restored bulk power supply to Kukwaba Substation through Apo Substation.

“Presently, TCN has restored bulk power supply to Kukwaba Substation at 07:08 pm as a temporary solution through Apo Substation. Arrangements are, however, ongoing to effect repairs on the affected line,” Mbah said.
