Nigerian artist Timaya has shared his perspective on why he has chosen not to marry, emphasizing the complexities involved in dissolving a marriage compared to a relationship. In a recent interview with NAIJA FM, he expressed his long-standing reservations about the institution of marriage and discussed his role as a father to his four children.
When questioned about his views on marriage, Timaya remarked, “I’ve never been a marriage guy right from time but it can change, because marriage dey crase? I just look at it like if I marry today, would I be able to get out? In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress.”
The Dem Mama artist highlighted the importance of open communication in his relationships, as he prefers not to harbor unresolved issues.
He explained, “If you have a problem with me , let’s talk about it because I don’t like going to bed thinking about things , I go die o. I don’t like anything to bother me at all.”
Regarding his role as a father, Timaya mentioned that his children reside with their respective mothers, yet they maintain a strong and affectionate relationship.
He explained, “Being a father is stressful because I love them too much but it’s enjoyable. My four kids live with their mothers so when I want to see them, I ask their mothers and they come to my house and we spend two to three months together then they go back to their mother’s. Christmas is coming and they’d spend it with me as well, but their mothers don’t come because they’re in relationships. We’re all family now so I can’t date any of them, we’re family now and we respect each other”
