Timi Frank Criticizes U.S President Biden Over Proposed Meeting With Tinubu

Timi Frank, a former APC chieftain, has criticized US President Joe Biden over a scheduled meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Remember that Biden had invited Tinubu to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September in New York, according to Molly Phee, Assistant US Secretary of African Affairs, during a meeting with Tinubu.

The upcoming meeting between the US President and President Tinubu, however, is “anti-American,” according to a statement released by Frank on Wednesday. It also goes against the law.

The former Deputy Spokesman for the APC expressed surprise at the meeting’s timing and added that it was anticipated that the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal would issue its decision soon.

The US President and other Western leaders can have discussions about African affairs with any other legitimate President on the continent, according to Frank.

Before talking with him about matters pertaining to West Africa and the continent as a whole, he continued, the US should wait for the tribunal to rule on the petitions brought against Tinubu.

He said: “This move by Biden is certainly an anti-American stance on the rule of law and a bad example in collaborations in view of the pendency of suits challenging the declaration of Tinubu as president and multiple investigations ongoing concerning his integrity, true identity and academic records both in Nigeria and USA.

“For me, even if they want to discuss African affairs, they can discuss with any other legitimate African leader within the continent.

“However, it is clear the only reason they are seeking this meeting is to protect their selfish interests, and it is for this type of unbecoming action that the US is now trying former President Donald Trump.

“It is disheartening to note that at a time when everyone is eagerly waiting on the outcome of the Presidential Election Tribunal, the US will seek to play to the gallery by inviting Tinubu as the sole African leader Biden wishes to meet at UNGA.”
