Notable Nigerians have been appointed to the Media and Publicity Directorate in the Office of the President, with President Bola Tinubu’s approval.
The appointment is being made in accordance with the Federal Character Principle and the Supremacy of Merit, according to a statement released on Monday by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.
According to Ajuri, Fela Durotoye was named the senior special assistant to the president on national values and social justice, and Fredrick Nwabufo was named the senior special assistant to the president on public engagement.
The presidential aide also stated that Linda Nwabuwa Akhigbe was named the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Strategic Communications and Aliyu Audu was named the Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs.
According to Ngelale, Francis Adah Abah has been named the President’s Personal Assistant on Special Duties.
The secondment of Mrs. Akhigbe to serve as the Communications Advisor to the President of the ECOWAS Commission, he claimed, was also approved by President Tinubu.
According to Ngelale, the President charges all newly appointed employees working in the Media and Publicity directorate to uphold the highest standards of decency and decorum in their interactions with all members of the public.
He added that the President had urged the media advisers to support his tenacious effort to restore Nigerians’ faith in an economy that has been restructured and a society that is cohesive and meets the needs of everyone, regardless of differences.
