Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a caring father to his son, Seyi Tinubu, but a poor leader to the Nigerian people.

This remark follows the recent ban of his latest song, Tell Your Papa, by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). The NBC, in a memo dated April 9, 2025, and signed by its Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, classified the song as “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB). The commission cited Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which prohibits content deemed offensive, inappropriate, or contrary to public decency.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television shortly after the ban, Eedris revealed that the inspiration behind the controversial track came from a video of Seyi Tinubu passionately campaigning for his father, praising him as the best president.

Eedris stated that while he acknowledges Bola Tinubu’s role as a supportive father, he believes the president has failed to lead the nation effectively.

“Seyi repeated it more than 6 times. And he looks perfect when he is silence than when you speak. I will advise Seyi to hand the mic to the MC next time. He lacks the charisma of telling the exact economic situation in Nigeria under his father’s government.”

“Tinubu is the best father to Seyi Tinubu, but he is the worst President to Nigerians. Eedris Abdulkareem added that President Tinubu has empowered his son, Seyi but has failed to empower Nigerians by providing jobs and food to eat .
