Popular Nigerian artistes like Davido, K1, Tiwa Savage, D’Banj and Teni Makanaki are some of the music acts scheduled to perform at the Lagos State Government bankrolled show, ‘Ekop on show.’
The state government recently announced a special live festival to commemorate Nigerian Independence.
The ‘Eko on Show’, according to the Hon. Commissioner of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, the free variety performance will present a music concert, fashion shows, a dance production, and a tantalizing array of food and drink.
Other music stars scheduled to perform at the festival include Dede Mabiaku, Shina Peters, Ara, and Ayra Starr. Kaffy would also be joining the league of stars with her Kreative Agency.
Speaking on the event, Akinbile-Yusuf, said, “This event is designed to raise the spirits of Lagosians, to inspire them, and to entertain them with the rich and vibrant culture of Lagos and its people. Entertainment, fashion and food are huge drivers of the state’s economy – they embody the spirit of our independence and have helped Nigerian culture to make its mark on the world.
As we remember the struggles of our heroes’ past and celebrate our independence, it remains our collective responsibility to see to the prosperity of Nigeria in our own little way, regardless of how little.
I know that we are not where we want to be but definitely not where we used to be, the future holds great prospects for us, especially for this very vibrant sector which we are eagerly positioning to become the major source of income for our great country.
