Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian journalist, TV presenter, vlogger, lifestyle blogger and author. She is best known for hosting The Morning Drive on Rhythm 93.7 FM and the YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She has also been named the most influential young Nigerian and style influencer several times.
Early Life and Education
Born on November 3, 1984 in Lagos State, Toke Makinwa is currently 36 years old (as of 2020). She is the second of four children. Toke lost her parents in a fire when she was 8 and was raised by Mr and Mrs Akinyele. She attended Federal College for Girls in Oyo State. She later attended the prestigious University of Lagos where he obtained a degree in English and Literature.

2010. Her media career began when she co-hosted The Morning Drive on 93.7FM. That same year, she started her own late-night talk show, Rhythms of the Night.
2012 – Launched Toke Moments, a YouTube vlog series that captured the hearts of Nigerians and garnered her more followers.
The show allowed fans to see a new side of her, which further increased her success as an entertainer. She was also nominated for On Air Personality of the Year at the 2012 Future Awards.
2013 – Won the Nigerian Broadcaster Award for “Best Female Presenter of the Year”. She was nominated for Radio OAP of the year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
In the same year, she became the ambassador of the United African Company in Nigeria.
2014 – The TV presenter signed a multi-million naira deal with Nestle Nigeria to become the new face of Maggi.
2016 – Became the brand ambassador and face of Mecran Cosmetics. She was also an ambassador for Payporte and Ciroc.

On 15 January 2014, Makinwa married his long-term partner, Madge Ayida. She married the fitness entrepreneur in a private ceremony. A year later, Toke broke up with Ayida after he found out she was cheating on him with his ex-girlfriend, Anita Solomon.
In 2017, Major Aida Toke Makinwa’s marriage was officially dissolved. His memoir, On Becoming, was published in November 2016.
