Toke Makinwa became emotional and broke down in tears during her thanksgiving service as she expressed deep gratitude to God. Overcome with emotion, Toke reflected on how God has never judged her as harshly as the world does. She thanked Him for standing by her through some of her darkest moments, particularly during her divorce, which she admitted made her feel like she wouldn’t survive.
Toke’s marriage to fitness entrepreneur Maje Ayida in 2014 ended in separation in 2015 after she discovered that he had gotten his ex-girlfriend pregnant. This revelation was a turning point in her life, leading to a painful and public breakup. However, despite the emotional toll of the experience, Toke remained resilient and leaned on her faith to navigate the challenges that followed.
At the thanksgiving service, Toke emphasized how God’s grace helped her endure that difficult chapter in her life. Her heartfelt gratitude highlighted the strength she drew from her spirituality, enabling her to heal and move forward from the hurt of her broken marriage. The moment at the service was a powerful reminder of her personal growth and her journey toward self-acceptance, finding solace in the belief that God’s love is unconditional and merciful, unlike the judgment she often faces from others.
