1- Vote Out Govs Against N30,000 Minimum Wage, NLC Tells Workers

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says its members will not be intimidated by a threat from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to sack workers if the new national minimum wage of N30,000 is implemented. NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, said this in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Zamfara state governor and chairman of the NGF, Abdulaziz Yari, said it was impossible to implement the N30,000 minimum wage without downsizing the workforce all over the country.

2- Oshiomhole Threatens Legal Action, Says PDP Tarnishing His Image

National Chairman of APC Adams Oshiomhole believes the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is working towards destroying his reputation. The APC chief has, based on this belief, threatened legal action against those perceived to be disseminating false information about him. Oshiomhole alleged that the PDP was working with aggrieved members of his party to tarnish his image because of his refusal to be used to undermine democratic ideals which the APC is striving to build.

3- Three Nigerian Soldiers Killed In Fresh Boko Haram Attack

No fewer than three soldiers were reportedly killed and several missing after a Boko Haram attack on a military base in Borno state. It was learned that the Boko Haram fighters may have come from the IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province. The militants temporarily dislodged troops from the base before being repelled with aerial support, according to AFP report.

4- States Can Pay N30,000 Minimum Wage, Says Oshiomhole

Head of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has insinuated that states in Nigeria can, indeed, pay the proposed N30,000 workers’ minimum wage. The former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) said that most states are finding it difficult to pay workers’ salaries because of corruption in the public sector.

5- Asuu, FG to Continue Meeting Next Week

Negotiations between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (Asuu) and a federal government delegation will continue next week, the union’s president has said. Speaking after Thursday’s meeting in Abuja, the union’s president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said that his team and the government’s had yet to conclude discussions. He then said that they would meet again next week, without stating the exact day, for further negotiations.

6- Ganduje Slams N3bn Suit On Newspaper Over ‘Bribery’ Videos

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has filed N3 billion suit against an online newspaper Daily Nigerian and its publisher, Ja’afar Ja’afar, for releasing videos of him allegedly collecting kickbacks from a contractor. In the suit dated November 13 and filed at a federal high court in the state, Ganduje, through his counsel, Nuradeen Ajagi, asked the court to declare the publication as a defamation of character and wrongful.

7- Anambra House Of Assembly In Chaos As Police Take Over Complex

Violence broke out when the Anambra State House of Assembly resumed sitting on Thursday, with policemen blocking the entrance to the premises, while they also fired teargas. The sitting followed the purported impeachment of the Speaker, Rita Maduagwu, on Tuesday. She had claimed that “They need two-thirds of our members to impeach the Speaker or the governor,” and that since they did not achieve that, “So, I’m still the Speaker.”

8- Mimiko To Run For Senate After Pulling Out Of Presidential Race

The immediate past governor of Ondo state Olusegun Mimiko has confirmed his withdrawal from the 2019 presidential race. Report had emerged on Wednesday that Mimiko, a member of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), had pulled out of the race for Nigeria’s topmost office. It was learned that Mimiko pulled out of the race to run for the Ondo central senatorial election under the same party.

9- Eagles Will Miss Ighalo, Uzoho In Bafana Clash – Rohr

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has admitted that his team would miss Odion Ighalo, Francis Uzoho, Wilfred Ndidi and Abdulahi Shehu in a crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations clash with South Africa on Saturday. While Shehu, Uzoho and Ighalo are injured, Ndidi is serving a one-match suspension due to two yellow cards. But Rohr expects Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Theophilus Afelokhai and Mikel Agu to fill the voids.
